So I'm officially moving my primary over to @benhamill if you want to keep hearing from me or get me to reply in any kinda fast manner. I'll remind again a few times over the next few days before this account goes mostly silent.
@JoshuaACNewman Yeeeeaaaaaaaah. I dunno if I really care? Or, anyway, how ✨much✨ I really care. I have 155 followers here and 59 over there. I think the 59 are almost entirely a subset.
But, like, focusing on follower count and worrying about losing followers seems like a very birdsite thing to do. I haven't been on Mastodon that long... More people will find me if they want to.
I'm not worried about, like, "maximizing my reach" or whatever.
@JoshuaACNewman There ✨has✨ been some talk of writing a migration tool, though, that would somehow link your two accounts and notify your followers' servers to switch the follow reference over or however that would work. But I don't care enough to wait, for sure.
Yeah, right now it doesn't matter much. @benhamill
Well, it's a design concern. Right now, you're right: it doesn't matter. But for someone like me, that reach can determine if I can pay my bills.
I'm concerned about it on a design level, of course, rather than a concern that somehow you're making a mistake.
@benhamill
@JoshuaACNewman Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh yeah. I see where you're at. You might should weigh in on https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/177, if you haven't already.
@benhamill This might be a real problem with migration. Assuming people will refollow you is a big, obvious mistake.
