It was too cold in my office to show off my awesome new shirt. But it's nice outside so I can show it off at dinner.
My 5yo asked for a shirt like this one. They understand what the flag means, exactly. I reexplained what "trans" means and they got that. But the political statement that the shirt is—and the social context—is lost on a 5yo. My risk when wearing this shirt is so much lower than a kid. So I said no because I couldn't figure out how to convey all that to a young mind. But I have mixed feelings.
