Sometimes I forget that the thing I call the “retina” is actually just the hole in my eye exposing my retina.

I completely forget that I have a *hole* in my *eye*. On *purpose*. That’s how the images get *in*. Through the cornea, the *hole*, and the *lens*, and then it hits the retina.

That hole is called the *pupil* and I have no idea why I always forget that. Like, I have to think about how a camera works before I can remember how *a part of my body* works.
