People from the mainland like to project this fake idea of #Hawaii as some paradise that has no challenges.
Utter rubbish. The minute other people project perfection onto paradise, then true paradise is lost.
I look at it this way: you know you've found your home when you love it not in spite of, but BECAUSE OF its imperfections. True "paradise" isn't paradise at all, but rather a love of everything involved: good, bad, beautiful and ugly all at once.
@KyokiKafuka Gods, yes. x-x;; I'm totally on base with Matt King here!!
@ayachan @KyokiKafuka so true. Plus, they ought to know that Paradise is in California, the sillies 😜
Paradise--as an ideal--doesn't exist. That's the truth of it. And as much as I love California (especially LA), it has its own challenges and struggles.
We mustn't focus on what can't be, but what is. Once we do that, we can truly effect change where needed and cultivate what exists where needed. ^_^
@ayachan @KyokiKafuka I'm so sorry, I actually do agree that trying to fit an actual reality in an imagined perfect ideal is always going to be problematic
And also Paradise, California is in Butte County, CA, honest:
@jannamark @KyokiKafuka Haha, well, I guess there's one piece of Paradise in Cali, then. x33
And that's why I believe we must focus on changing what needs to be changed and enshrining what needs to be kept the same. ^_^ We've found our home when we love it not in spite of, but BECAUSE OF the challenges that face it.
@ayachan Could not agree more. To quote Matt King from The Decsecendants: “Paradise can go fuck itself.” 😉
