FWIW Ingerlund has never scored 5 goals in a World Cup finals game before. A novel experience! 😂
“No, there isn’t a single USB-C headphone adapter that will work with every phone.” Just incredibly ridiculous (via r/android): https://www.androidcentral.com/there-single-usb-c-headphone-adapter-works-all-phones

New blog post: How to implement a basic ActivityPub server https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2018/06/how-to-implement-a-basic-activitypub-server/
Google managed to troll the crap out of Mozilla forever... If you want to change internal settings in Firefox, you type... chrome://
maybe mastodon's growth is just not in making users know about mastodon - the software - itself
like we try to pitch a software but what we're really giving most users are instances anyway. maybe for most people to be interested, knowing about mastodon the software should come after knowing their favorite instance
I read something recently that gave me food for thought. An alternative has to be 10x better for people to switch; and the core experience is what convinces people, not cool extra features.
I don't know how universally applicable it is, but I wonder how Mastodon stacks up in that. Personally I think it's 10x better, but is it really? Or more importantly, are we communicating clearly that it is?
I'm working on an ActivityPub guide website for coders & non-coders! It's something I wish existed before I started pixelfed.
@gdorn ugh I hate when software does this crap

This is awful.
Just in: Supreme Court rules that government generally needs a warrant if it wants to track an individual’s location through cell records over an extended period

My first #TheseAreTheChildren post is up. Read a bit about the story of a child who was raped and whose undocumented immigrant mother had to decide whether reporting the rape was good for the child in light of the possibility that the child would be taken from her.
These are the impossible choices we inflict on parents with current US policy requiring isolation of children.

Yesterday I said that US policy isolating immigrant children amounted to torture, backing it up with a reading of the UN Convention Against Torture. But the fun doesn't stop there.
Today we're examining the UN Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, and it turns out that the US might be in breach of that treaty as well. (Spoiler: Yes, the US is in breach. Massively. Blatantly.)
Feel free to read my latest either before or after you call your Rep & Senators

@judeswae absolutely. But the first step should be breaking out of the single walled garden the content is already in...
I mean, if Blender Foundation would host their own PeerTube instance, that would be amazing, obviously! ;)
And so #Youtube won't allow the #Blender Foundation to share its creative commons licensed videos on the platform if they don't monetize it? Really? https://www.blendernation.com/2018/06/19/blender-foundation-youtube-update/ #b3d

If you can't wait until tomorrow to read my post on the 4 year old raped by a sheriff's deputy who got away with it for months or years by threatening the child's undocumented mother with deportation, you can read one report here:
