@ajroach42 Honestly, I think it manages to be pretty cool even with the extravagance. 😄 There are far worse ways these people could be spending their money.

@hypolite @kingu_platypus_gidora yeah. I'm having a hard time getting too worked up over the FB "scandal," myself (CA didn't do anything FB didn't offee their clents, and I've thought they were evil for ages now), but tempted to try and get my friends over there over here, instead/in addition.
Please recommend to me more people to follow who talk about music and old technology and vintage scifi and maybe text adventure games?
It's hard to find new people on a small instance, so boosts and replies are welcome and encouraged.
Most importantly, stop putting institutional events on Facebook, stop using it at universities, stop making participation in Facebook mandatory through your institutional, organization, and activist roles. You can be online, and social, and connected without supporting Facebook.
If this were a story, this guy would be just the latest victim, and a victim of a frame-up. But because this is the real world, probably not. We can all hope.

My dad was diagnosed with ALS when I was young & just like Hawking was told he only had a few years. At the time Stephen had lived decades longer than anyone expected. You have no idea the amount of hope he gave a little scared boy just by living.
