Social cooling is a really frightening concept: https://www.socialcooling.com/
Interesting #Guardian article about #Poetry Society’s Ted Hughes award winner "Hollie McNish the politics and poetry of boyfriends, babies and breastfeeding" https://www.theguardian.com/books/2017/jun/16/hollie-mcnish-politics-of-poetry-ted-hughes-prize-winner
@raymescallado thanks so much for your feedback Ray - really helpful! :) xx
@make sounds like a really good idea :) (the weather is just getting too nice today)
does anyone have any general thoughts on #narrative voice in fiction or specifically science fiction? Is there a voice you prefer when reading a novel, or perhaps you prefer a mix like that used in "Cloud Atlas"? Any and all thoughts and comments are really appreciated! (I have several "main characters" in the book I'm currently writing, and more and more I think different narrative voices for each character might work better. Thanks for your ideas! xx #writing #sf #fiction
pseudo-work day today, but the weather is the best in weeks - maybe catch some afternoon sun and writing? hope so!
... and I've gotten quite a bit written today :) back to writing ...
time for me to do less tooting, more writing :) (but I am still listening, so ...)
ok the "day job" part of today is done, time to get down to some writing :)
@JessSloan so sorry to hear that :( hope they feel better soon
@gargron hahaha! you made my evening, thank you :) xx
didn't get to writing my book today :( too many mundane things and people stopping by 4 or 5 hours late and then staying for dinner didn't help, either (sigh) but, there is tomorrow - die Hoffnung stirbt zuletzt ;)
@boots would be great to follow you and have you follow back :)
@craigmaloney thanks :) (I learned Canasta recently from a German friend of mine and nowadays playing it with a very competitive English person and an Italian friend)
@craigmaloney some fits of inspiration, but otherwise tiring, lost two games of Canasta when I should've been writing. But now it's bedtime :)
ok trying to keep these two accounts for two purposes separated isn't so easy after all ;D but I will still try. Anyway, please feel free to contact me on either one about anything, but I will try to keep posting my author and more personal stuff @ariadne
and political and social things
@ariadne_autorin here on mastodon-social
@ink_slinger @JessSloan @thurloat the cats just understand things too well, how could they not be curmudgeonly?
@KARiley40 no that's not cheating (other dimensions), that's probably how things really work :)
@KARiley40 I have a mix of real places in there (e.g. Iceland where I've also spent some time) but my fictional ones are usually a hybrid of multiple real places plus some fantasy. There might be a sequel, and if there is, probably alien planet several hundred light-years from here :D
@KARiley40 there are two others on an Aegean island (also quasi-fictional) so they have the better weather
