@sonicbooming @starbreaker For the past half-dozen years or so many sites have been redesigned because the front-end and/or platform have dead-ended and can't reasonably be incrementally improved.

The reasons are usually about money in some way, of course, but as often as not a ground-up redesign is necessary to provide accessibility and better web security. So you have to take the irritating (more ads) with the good, and try to ignore the marketer bizspeak they're wrapping their rationales in
