Lots of criticisms of "tech" are actually criticisms either of specific big tech companies or of capitalism.

I feel like the fediverse more or less gets this, and understands the difference (i.e., that tech != big tech, that social networks aren't necessarily centralized, that ad revenue isn't the only way to make money, and that systems exist that aren't even intended to make money) but even "tech journalists" often don't seem to get it.

When I say "tech and business are unrelated" I mean it.

I think we've lost the abbreviation "tech".

It now refers to internet based companies, like Facebook or Uber, most of which are entirely exploitative, and serve short-term Venture Capital investors instead of serving customers in any traditional sense.

I think if we want to talk about "Technology", we'll have to spell out the whole word.
