What if, instead of an umbrella, I used a firehose to spray a cone of water above my head.
In theory, the rain drops should get pushed away from my by faster, heavier drops from the fire-hose.
@apLundell The umbrella is more portable, and can also provide shade from the sun.
@starbreaker the firehose would cool the air on hot days, and could be used to put out fires.
So, plusses and minuses.
