@pnathan are you planning to attend this year's Seattle GNU / Linux conference?
But seriously, Firefox 57 just hit the Beta channel, it's soooo nice.

I look over... see Chrome installed on her computer, I look at her.
"Have you even used Iceweasel?!" - Her again

Also Fortune needs to lay off the 3rd party scripts.
@pnathan Yep. The idea of memetic warfare (which way predates the invention of the term 'meme' by Dawkins) is that you spread *self-replicating* talking points.
So that it's NOT just the foreign agents who are spreading them; the stories, if juicy and appealing enough, catch fire and spread by themselves through domestic populist networks.
Foreign (and organised domestic, eg 4chan) agents tend to do *amplification*.
Protip: a Twitter account ending in a bunch of numbers is likely fake.

And I'm about to delete Instagram...

Just installed Pi-hole and I am in love.
While I've always used browser based ad-blockers (uBlock origin with 3rdparty scripts blocked by default), and that's effective, it does nothing for your (a) mobile phone (but use Firefox Mobile) (b) "smart" devices like my LG TV or Kindle etc.
Seriously, check it out. This project is fantastic, and easy to use.
software would be easier if the authors of C hadn’t decided not to specify any sizes for basic objects
“will this C code from 2008 work as intended on a 64-bit computer?” ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
is there a clang-format flag for “assume the author was running 32-bit windows, now fix this junk”
Up at 5am, can't sleep well lately thinking about the healthcare bill set to pass. My family will be 100% fucked and even though I live in a bright blue state, I still might be in trouble.
The hardest problem in computer science is actually switching from one emoji pack to another
So I've decided to dump Namecheap as my domain registrar. Technical problems aside (of which there have been a few), the final line they crossed was loading scripts from Facebook, DoubleClick, and Google on their home page.
My domain registrar should share _absolutely nothing_ with Facebook. Namecheap is no longer to be trusted as they don't seem to understand basic expectations of privacy.
What's your opinion on the System76 Galaga Pro laptops? I need to replace my MacBook, and want a freer machine. StationX has great laptops... but they don't ship to the US yet.
I'm planning to attend SeaGL again this year, October 6th and 7th. If you're in the Seattle area, you should too (assuming you like GNU and Linux).
@pnathan I'm envying your pixel art icon. Where can I find one like that?
@luluberlu @tom @masklayer Firefox™ we’re the only browser that’s not WebKit so you’d better use us if you want to keep a free-ish web
@nolan Hm, nevermind. Follow seems to have worked anyway.
@nolan I'm having trouble remote following you from octodon.social. I just followed someone else remotely, and it worked fine, but after I click 'proceed to follow' there is no success message.

But seriously, fuck DRM.
