Wow. Photobucket just unceremoniously ended hotlinking for anyone who doesn't cough up $400 a year. Billions of images all across the web just became advertisements for Photobucket. This is unbelievable.
My login/password still work for now, so if you have an account and remember your credentials, I recommend backing up anything now. Who knows what'll happen next.
Everyone should also adblock Photobucket, especially if you frequent old forums, or you'll be seeing lots of these ads from now on.

the remains of a mining town in oklahoma, that ended up ridiculously polluted and toxic.
Happy Net Neutrality Day!
Wait, is "happy" the right emotion? I can't believe we're still fighting ancient assholes in Congress over this. But we are. So do your part.
You too, you lucky non-Americans! Ensure your internet, everyone's internet, remains free.
P.S. I'm sorry PRC, UK, and other censored places.
Who am I kidding? We're all censored somehow.
I just rediscovered the GitHub PR dashboard... and closed a PR from 2014 where I'd since deleted my repo. Heh.
Linux is the chemical in semen that reacts to blacklight.
The plural of Linux is Linoox.
actually I hate the hostile mentality all across the FOSS community of "well I am the maintainer of this project and I will accept the changes *I* deem acceptable and if you don't like that fork your own project!"
because it's so fucking common everywhere in every project
project maintainers should be co-operative with their users, and not the other way around
it's why I like Rust; the project is so nice to its users and open to feedback
make Mastodon nice like Rust
If don't know what's going on with Puerto Rico, this gives a bit of context of the destruction the USA has caused to these people:

I baked my first Swiss roll last night. We ate it all.
I am the chatterbox. Which are you?

Every blurb for every startup: "We make DISRUPTIVE and INNOVATIVE technology that happens to perfectly fit into existing social structures and capitalism."
Just found out the reason my neighbors on my floor are so quiet is I that have none. The surrounding condos are "guest suites" for visiting family while they actually live down the road in a fancier place. WTF THERE'S A FUCKING HOUSING SHORTAGE. It's not like it'd necessarily go to an impoverished family but at least it wouldn't be fallow for 360 days a year. WTFFFFFFFF.
So I tried switching to Firefox from Chrome this weekend. Almost everything was perfect, even with syncing to my Android phone. Just one major problem: Firefox is upending all their add-on support.
I'm sure the devs have good reasons to do so, but when I can't use Hangouts, and half the add-ons refuse to move to the new system, I can't say it's a good time to switch.
So I'm stuck with Chrome.
Fell asleep last night reading about the horror story that was the Halifax Explosion, in 1917 Nova Scotia, Canada.
TL;DR Ship full of explosives caught fire and exploded after a slow (and should have been avoidable) collision with another ship. Largest explosion before nuclear weapons.
Read it for a lesson on humanity's collective stupidity.
I've replaced my self-hosted Ghost website with Hugo. It is so much better. I got really sick of having to update and maintain Ghost (and hated the NodeJS bloat). Now I just have a post-receive hook which updates my blog when I push to my server. Yay!
I'm considering using duplicity under WSL to set up backups of my Windows machine. What could go wrong?
