I forget so many people still use FB.

I'm really kind of fascinated with the conversation around people debating it's merits as they wrestle with letting it go.

It's such a moment in time.

Self care for perfectionists looks really different than most people expect:

1. Emailing back to say no, even if you've been procrastinating for two weeks.

2. Ignoring your inbox to go for a walk.

3. Recognizing people have needs, but that doesn't mean you have to be the one to fullfill those needs.

4. Taking time to document and celebrate your accomplishments.

5. Asking, "What if I didn't do that?" and accepting that there will always be something that needs to be done that won't be done.

Self-care for perfectionists part 7: learning to just finish the thing and hand it up, and be ok with it not quite being perfect. Firing the inner editor who wants to bin the entire essay and start over 2 days before it's due. Learning to just finish it.

I said I would post some music so here goes: a collaborative project with a friend that’s been ongoing on and off for about a year, called Moth Ash. This recording was from one of our live performances at a festival. Hoping at some point we’ll have more. There’s a pretty healthy music scene here. :)

May be of interest to enthusiasts too

Though I love to share #music links all day, I don't feel all too good using #youtube references for ... reasons. Any recommendations on what to be used instead?

: part 3

Forgot to mention I’m also interested in (have some projects I’m planning) , and many genres of music (pretty open), and am looking for recommendations. I have subscribed to a few already but want more:) Really enjoying this place so far. 💾

Bev Skeggs on Social Media Siloing
( Social Science Bites #podcast )

“Most people,” says sociologist Bev Skeggs, “think they’re using Facebook to communicate with friends. Basically they’re using it to reveal how much they can be sold for, now and in the future, and how much their friends can be sold for.”

I teach a class at NYU called Reading and Writing Electronic Text that is half introduction to Python, half introduction to computational poetry. the syllabus is here: rwet.decontextualize.com/ and the tutorial/lecture notes are here: github.com/aparrish/rwet I've taught the class many times before, but this year I'm revising all the notes and porting everything to Python 3/Jupyter Notebook. I've also made entirely new tutorials on dictionaries, RNNs and keyword extraction. just wanted to share!
