I was reading Americanah and there is this part when the narrator says someone talks about "having lived in New Haven" as if it obviously means having studied at Yale.

Being interviewed for my student visa, they asked me where I will be living, I answered "New Haven" and then they asked me "you are going to Yale, then?", so I said "yes" and they just said "of course".

Is the city that uninteresting?!
