@CobaltVelvet btw, I can tell you right now that Ruby will never scale... if Mastodon were to somehow thrive, they will hit the Twitter perf/FailWhale zone soon enough...

@alexschleber Yeah but that's also where the federation is useful, each instance is relatively easy to scale even if the network grows. We can just scale horizontally at multiple levels for some more time and start working on optimization.
