When reading serial data with #rust, make sure to make your read buffer reasonably large, some USBs on some devices need a bigger buffer than others.
Setting my buffer from 16 to 256 bytes basically made a program that only worked on one PC work on 2 PCs.
I really wish there was a #mastodon plugin that could on-the-fly translate toots of a different language, allowing me to switch between "original" and "translated".
Twitter has users. Mainstream (Silicon Valley) tech and drug dealers are the only two groups to use that term to describe people. And they're both obsessed with manufacturing addiction and exploiting those people. Calling people users is a form of othering.
Let's do better.
Mastodon doesn't have users. Mastodon has people. Call them members if you must. But not users.
Twitter, Facebook, and Google have users. We have people.

Hello, Octodonners. It looks like Alice's patreon in support of our chosen instance has plateaued. Please do what you can to help our friendly neighborhood cyberpunk queen, @CobaltVelvet
Donating is grand; boosting this, even, will be helpful, to get the message around.
Was working on the settings system for a #Rust game today, loving that JSON serialization with serde-json is so easy!
 Why is there no .tld tld?
A wild headless Chrome appears: https://www.chromestatus.com/features/5678767817097216. Coming to Chrome 59, all platforms.
Something i looked for but never found is a free or at least open source commenting system for website.
Something like Disqus.
Now i am thinking that, maybe, Mastodon might be tweaked this way.

Richard Stalman mentioned #mastodon and the #fediverse!
Facebook doesn't have users, it has "the used" ~ Richard Stalman
Fixed an issue with reading data from serial inputs in #rust, remember to always use terminators between samples!

So @kennetpostigo was showing off some of that sweet Mitt.js State management logic:

Seems like a great alternative to redux all you #javascript #react peoples! :grinning:

People... you can be so much happier when you stop confusing "personal brand," the size of your "reach," and the quantity of your received "impressions" with yourselves, and if Mastodon doesn't allow you to successfully port over your social currency, then maybe that's not a bug, maybe it's a DAMN FEATURE. #metadon
Is there a Mastodon instance devoted to anime yet? If so, let me know.
While designing a Voxel engine, I smacked into the reality of having X^3 information to have to deal with.
Currently settling on using 16 bits to describe most stuff to help keep the memory budget from exploding. ๐ฅ
My secret ๐ช recipe:
1. 2 Sticks Butter.
2. 3 cups flour, King Arthur.
3. 1.3333 cups of brown sugar.
4. 2 tablespoons of baking *powder*, not soda peoples.
5. Cryptographically secure PGP key written in a grain of rice.
6. A buttload of the darkest chocolate you can buy.
7. 1 Tablespoon Vanilla whey Protein for them GAINS.
8. Some salt, juice, lemonade, fruit, whatever.
9. One egg.

Built a smart standing desk out of some linear actuators, relays, and a #RaspberryPi. Here's a repo w/ all the source/instructions/cost per item.
It's running a node.js CLI you can `npm i -g` as well as a Rust server compiled remotely and deployed to the device.
Got VS Code debugging working with #rust and LLDB, cool to see the instructions/registers/call stacks your code boils down to!
