Went to Third Eye Games tonight to play a demo session of the Starfinder RPG. is an based on Pathfinder, which in turn is based on the older versions of D&D, so there are lots of D20 rolls.

I enjoyed tonight's session, though the game is a bit rules-heavier than my usual preference. And it was nice to find that I still enjoy role-playing, even though I haven't done it since high school.

@akuchling I've been running a #starfinder homebrew online since January. It's going well albeit slow. the rules crunch is slowly being added we started off very light. There are SO many rules but the groups tend to play with only a section of them.

It's a great system with cool equipment and upgrade options, reasonable crafting options and starship combat to boot.

I'm running it as a sandbox which has been an interesting thing to do as well. watching players explore what they want.

@Chambique Thanks for your comments! I think I'd like a more generic system -- Starfinder defines its setting in detail, and my taste is more X-Filesy or Doctor Whoish or whatever.

My local game store is holding introductory sessions for a different SF/F every month. This month, they're doing FFG's Genesys, which is more generic but has weird dice. fantasyflightgames.com/en/news I'm going to try it on Monday.

@akuchling
I'm running my #starfinder game outside of the lore except for the races I guess.

But, I love generics, #WOINrpg is amazing for crafting exactly the setting and vibe you want in a game. I've only just begun world building with it but soon I'll get a setting going. It's got fantasy and scifi elements.

I need to find a came store that demos #ttrpg like that!
