That people say RSS is incompatible with an 'advertising driven' model of the Web is just more reason to kill advertising off.

"But advertising is fundamental to the web as it exists now!"

Have you seen the web as it exists now?

i can play celeste and enter the gungeon and youtube at decent quality on it now! which is nice

"GitLab plans to automatically delete projects if they've been inactive for a year and are owned by users of its free tier." says The Register.

"GitLab is aware of the potential for angry opposition to the plan, and will therefore give users weeks or months of warning before deleting their work. A single comment, commit, or new issue posted to a project during a 12-month period will be sufficient to keep the project alive."

(This is not the place to vent your feelings pro or con about this policy. I'm sure gitlab has official forums or whatever for that)

"Older systems have value, and constantly building new technological systems for short-term profit at the expense of existing infrastructure is not progress. In fact, it is among the most regressive paths a society can take."

My current electric wheelchair is worn out and actively dangerous, and so unreliable I don’t trust it to even work. I’ve started a gofundme to buy a new lightweight modern one. I’ll be grateful for any donations, or just a share if that’s what you can do.

How many main/major accounts have you had on Fedi?

Don't include experimental/short-lived/throwaway accounts.

Currently active and inactive accounts do count, as does each instance of an account that moved between domains.

Thinking about how I am not eligible to get the monkeypox vaccine because I haven't had enough anonymous gay sex. Thinking about how the government is implicitly incentivizing anonymous gay sex by only offering the vaccine for the next pandemic if you've had enough of it. Imagining a clique-graph variant of grindr where people unlikely to have monkeypox yet are paired up to have anonymous gay sex with each other *only* so they can all get vaccinated
