Hey Mastodon, I'd like to work with small natural garnets I found a while ago in the Massif des Maures (south-eastern France), to make a piece of jewelry. Do you know how to polish them? What temperature they can hold? How to cut them? How to clean them? Any tips appreciated

(To be clearer, I'd like to prepare them before I send them to an artist who would apply an epoxy treatment and turn them into a necklace)

I've had some of these boys for a while now. This one has been in my wallet for four years (it looks pretty dark on the picture, but he has a nice redish color).

I found them on the ground, extracted from garnet-schists (because garnets are a common side mineral found in schists), and this one was a gift from my biology/geology teacher of Terminale (french equivalent of the american 12th grade), right after the baccalauréat (High school diploma).

Also, according to this new-age litotherapy shit, Garnets are a symbol of passionate love

It's funny when you know who i want to give this to.

@dolfsquare I thought you were talking about Steven Universe.
