I don't use my desktop for a ton of typing, so I've got a cheap rubber dome keyboard hooked up to it.

And now that I'm working from home, jeez is this thing bad! I honestly prefer my thinkpad keyboard.

Time to start working on that ergodox clone 🀷

Last night I hyperfixed my way into learning how rust, llvm, gcc, and c implement atomics. Guess I might as well get a blog post out of it?

COVID Posting

This is me subtooting the entire embedded rust community

Found some really old maps of town online today, and found out that the house I'm living in now was built in 1886, and had two additions put on by 1892 (reaching it's current size), and that within two blocks of here, there were a grocery, a slaughterhouse, a school, a large brewery/beer garden, and a wool mill.

This place was a lot more livable 130 years ago than today 😟

Doing a praxis by calling it a "work slowdown" when I experience intense pandemic anxiety that prevents me from being as productive as my boss would like

I think the WFHers are victims of some very successful manipulation of current events. Oh, here, we'll just make your job like 1/3 easier because we could have donethat anyway, and by the way everyone else around you is losing their job. Be a good worker bee for me because you are now atomized, comfortable, and /very/ replaceable.
Which is, folks, exactly why you should SFH (Strike From Home).

y'all ever just face into the shower, letting the water stream over your face and kick in that mammalian dive reflex, and just... curse the folly of sapience and recall a time when we were wise enough just stay in the primordial soup

Ended up impulse buying, so I guess it's time for me to become an incredibly talented embedded rust developer

Economy, Orangesite

I switched to a domain name provider that has a much nicer API and web interface.

The major downside is that this makes it much easier to impulse buy domain names.

Incredible, the AI meme generator is way better than I am at making up funny stuff

I'm sure this also intersects with various undiagnosed ADHD/ASD things, too, but just once I'd love to have a job that either gave me discrete and accomplishable things, or gave me enough time to do my work to the standard I want without interruption.

But from my first job, it was just ceaseless, endless. At <Grocery Chain> I was explicitly denied promotion because I worked too hard at my more-menial job.

At my first IT job, my bosses were astounded at how many tickets I'd take care of in a day, until I realized that no matter how many I took care of, there were always more.

And of course, that continues to today!

I don't think I've ever actually experienced a time when I haven't been complete disenchanted by work and capitalism. Which is in stark contrast to my experience of school and education growing up.

I'm not sure if it's always been like this, or if I'm more affected personally.

I think a lot of that is because work is never "done," while school can be. Homework finished, you're free!

Everyone in Kentucky praising the "bipartisanship" of letting everyone vote by mail. This "bipartisan victory" just looks like leftism with extra steps to me.

Spent the past day figuring out how to get GNU Build ID information available in 8-bit AVRs.

Long story short: Custom linker script time!

Humans are just about in the middle of smallest possible things, and biggest possible things, which is remarkable, really.

Maybe weirder, is that we're definitely on the cold side of all possible temperatures.
