@schmonz verrrrry similar cheeks there :) A beautiful offspring human!

@KthulhuKat baking is nice. There's something very findamental about baking stuff *and* It's not just ephemeral digital. *Everything* digital disappears. Trust me, nearly everything I was involved with over 20 years no longer exists. Helping people to buy good bread sounds like a good idea to me :)

@Mainebot there are some decent intellectually stimulating podcasts around. What sort of stimulation are you after? I am an overt podcast absorber, I may be able to suggest some

@jordyd abilities to do what? You make lesbians sound like creatures in a disaster movie!

You know you're out of touch when you find out that in London, the new hipster 'office party' trend is crazy golf bars.
Well.

@kaniini @starbreaker I misread the reply actually. Apologies. I get your point. I guess I've been in the biz long enough but also tend to work with very non-technical folk as well as the team so using an interface that's relatively easy but also recognising that there's nothing spoken about on Slack that I wouldn't feel comfortable with (again though, my particular working environments...) ... Ultimately, non-dev's associate IRC with all sorts of NSFW shit (not necessarily sexual).

@starbreaker @kaniini what, and on IRC no one will know?!

@starbreaker @kaniini right so why is Slack, as opposed to any other software a security breach waiting to happen?

@starbreaker @kaniini isn't that a culture issue ie: have rules of use? I have never been in a situation where data is used on Slack and would get shot of it pretty bloody quickly if I did. It's a conversation tool. And in cross functional teams including writers/field workers who are very much not technical, it's pretty valuable

@starbreaker I don't think you can say that's predatory behaviour. Predatory is buying up smaller companies doing the same shit then closing them down. Something MS did over and over again for years. Full disclosure is that I know a few people who work for Slack since the beginning so my view would be sigh, that's a shame, but they need to make money to survive and their employment practices/work culture is pretty much exemplary

@starbreaker at least Slack is independent. The folk who make it are decent? What is it about it you don't like?

@reedsandstrings does he get pocket money? We have a rule that if the kid want to save up and buy a book, we will always pay 50%. That might help matters?
