I literally have the same Mastodon tab open since I registered three days ago. I have not refreshed/reloaded/whatever the tab (or browser) since.
If that's correct, I want to give a *huge* pat on the back to the developers of Mastodon for somehow making everything still live-update across an upgrade of the software.
I always provide my phone number as 867-5309 to use store loyalty programs, because somebody's always set up an (anonymous!) account with it. Thankfully the joker who set it up at Walgreens put it under the name of "Jenny"

Having spoken on it before, but can't say it enough, absolute rights to free speech are a *gift* outside private areas. It's legal to express any opinion in a public place or in your own home or whatever.
But this is my space and I have the right here to limit speech, and I have limited it in a way to minimise harm to the people here, including myself, and I am allowed to do whatever I want and block whoever I want and I shouldn't be judged by the community harshly for it.

As long as we have a least one instance that federates with all instances it's OK to me for individual instances to block instances that don't fit with what the administrator wants.
don't understand how people are trying to guilt-trip instance admins for systematically defederating from other servers for any reason they feel, however they want
last time i checked admins ran servers entirely out of their own good will?? 🤔

This whole not sleeping well thing is getting old. I get a few hours of awakeness during the morning, then comes the long bleer. Most annoying on workdays when napping is frowned upon.

Honestly the federation is really more of a confederation: There's no centralized authority, just a set of common rules everyone agrees to abide by (the protocol), and relationships between members are still bilateral (and voluntary)
