Worst part is nobody in the room even gets the burn.

@Frankenbeans Sincere question: isn't that part of the expectations of a public federated toot? That has been much of the appeal and fun of mastodon for me, joining wider conversations and making new friends based on common interests. Other than you having a private/ non federated feed, what would be a good indicator for people like me to determine you don't want to be interacted with?
@LindaBloodworthAuthor Too like the lightning by Ada Palmer. It's set in a post nation world that has evolved from a global religious war. The solutions they use to hold the peace without despotism are imperfect but brilliant. Religion is a right but can only be discussed with a trained, licensed guide- no proselytizing. Gendered dress and language have become taboo and that's barely scratching the surface. If it doesn't blow your mind I'll give you $10 or it's equal in Bitcoin!

@NeuroWinter because blockchains are decentralization of currency itself, because it allows security without trust, because it is an immutable record with no motive, because it is as close as we get to digital credits from sci-fi that aren't controlled by a bank, because it's a mad experiment in probability that's constantly locking itself with an impossibly difficult key and trusting the network will break it, because it's fun to sneakily send cash over the web..because someday you may need to.

@instajelly I tried polyphasic sleep about 10 years ago. I did a modified every man schedule- I don't remember the specifics now but basically I had one big bigger sleep at night and three super short naps. My problem wast social life- I was just starting to date the gal who would become my wife and if she wanted to do anything (or another friend had a LAN party, etc) I'd skip a nap. I think I made it only a couple of weeks, but it's still super fascinating to me.

@viciousviscosity SAME. It takes me forever to clear a single dungeon in Skyrim because I'm like "wait; I don't think I've read this edition of 'The Lusty Argonian' yet..."
Anyone know if there are tools or instances that let you use different interfaces? Perhaps one that looks like an excel spreadsheet so it can be used incognito at work? #askingForAFriend
