Last night, my dog and I went to bed as per usual, she slept under the covers, between my legs. Suddenly she woke up from a DEAD SLEEP and shot out of bed, wanting to be let out of the bedroom. Me, WTF ever, I just want to go to sleep. I let her outside and she runs into the office where Spouse is. THE SOUND OF THE PACKAGING OF HIS TURKEY STICKS WOKE HER FROM A DEAD SLEEP. MY DOG:

Looks like I’m getting away with not putting up the big tree this year; only using my little one. Christmas get together with my in laws on Saturday, but then a few quiet days. I’m looking forward to no demands on my time, except for what I decide.

@alienghic families used to live a lot closer together, yeah. Even in one household. You’d think with easier communication today, distance would be irrelevant. Industry, reliable transportation, and two+ income households being the norm, all seem to be negatively impacting familial relationships

@alienghic they are, or are trying. But most people I know didn’t grow up with as close of a relationship with their grandmother like I did.

I’m just not feeling Christmas this year. I’m faking it for the sake of others. Spouse wants to put up the tree but...it’s a reminder of what I’ve lost. I don’t know that I’m ready for that.

Sitting in my car before work, dreading going in. Just have a feeling it's going to be a very stressful day.
