Anarchism isn't "...a doctrinaire theoretical model prescribing
the kinds of institutions to be built after the Revolution. It [is] a description of the endless variety of things people are doing right now, on their own, without waiting for the Revolution or for anarchist theoreticians to stamp their imprimatur on it."

Now that "resistance" from within the Matrix has been largely reduced to throwing popcorn at MSNBC on our five-foot (diagonal) Netflix dispensers, friends and friends of friends here please consider building a shadow economy of creativity, self-determination and mutual aid; in the near term, hints and pointers will be tooted/posted from time to time, I trust, by members of social.coop and elsewhere. ♥

I don't usually do the whole "abandon windows and only use foss" thing, but I'm totally in favor of conscientiously phasing out the use of proprietary tools. I'd like to encourage people to consider migration plans to escape dependence on single platforms.

Every blurb for every startup: "We make DISRUPTIVE and INNOVATIVE technology that happens to perfectly fit into existing social structures and capitalism."

If you find yourself about to say something that amounts to "not all [privileged group]" because [someone in marginalised group] made a generalisation that bruised your fragile ally ego...

... instead, go find something by a person in that marginalised group and boost it. Bring it to the attention of others in your privileged group.

If when we talk about our bad experiences your response is to point out that you're not like those other privileged oppressors, your attention is misdirected.

'...Well-being, ...the satisfaction of physical, artistic, and moral needs, has always been the most powerful stimulant to work. And when a hireling produces bare necessities with difficulty, a free worker, who sees ease and luxury increasing for him and for others in proportion to his efforts, spends infinitely far more energy and intelligence, and obtains first-class products in far greater abundance. The one feels riveted to misery, the other hopes for ease and luxury in the future. In this lies the whole secret. Therefore a society aiming at the well-being of all, and at the possibility of all enjoying life in all its manifestations, will supply voluntary work which will be infinitely superior and yield far more than work has produced up till now under the goad of slavery, serfdom, or wagedom...'

Okay, I wanna give Mastodon another shot and just check in here more often.
One thing keeping me from it is a proper Android client with Multi-Account-Support though.
Tooty Fruity is nice but has a few bugs (e. g. can't scroll my list of followers). Twittnuker only has Mastodon support on paper apparently, crashes immediately when I try to open anything.
Any recommendations?

Tired.

Unrelated: Today I learned that the Irish Famine was not caused by crop failure, but because most of the crops were taken by England.

Sigh. History textbooks have such horrible misinformation.

as a fun fact, jesusinthe.club is free

10 boosts and I make a mastodon instance there

tfw you're a lefty and you get mad about things the state does to distort the market

almost always it's the entrenched players lobbying them to ensure their perpetual unchallenged rule and ability to dictate terms

There is a magic #moneytree…in fact there are two

Both the #state and the #banks can create #money out of thin air.

The magic money tree of the banks is far more de-stabilising than the magic money tree of the state. Unlike state magic money which can be created free of debt, bank magic money always has to be repaid with interest.

People who use the notion of "human nature" to justify capitalism have a lazy, unfounded argument. Human nature is a malleable concept and to believe that greed is a quintessential example of human ambition and thought is unjustified and tragic.

I'll have you know I telephoned an actual live human being today. It was excruciatingly terrifying but yes, I lived.

If you beat your own child because you "turned out okay" after your childhood was full of beatings... you did not turn out ok.

I guess what I'm saying is that when I'm handling a lot of stress I tend to unwind by hopping on social media to provoke and dunk on cartoon monsters. Mastodon is failing me on that front.

Where are the people defending gulags, the holocaust, and bombing children's hospital charities?

It's almost like the internet hasn't turned into a post-apocalyptic nightmare here. And all my skills fine-tuned in the desolate savage wastelands of twitter are now worthless.

Hello everyone! I'm interested in federated networks that give users more freedom and thought I'd try my hand at Mastadon!

*vomits tags to get things started* Alright! These are things I enjoy/care about/will fight you for.
