Spring is coming. ๐ŸŒฑ

Bring on the tulips and daffodils! ๐ŸŒท

This is actually more relaxing than Twitter. Kudos to whoever made this site!

The only skin colour i discriminate against is spray-tan orange.

Dear World, I'm sorry our President is a Clown. :sob:

people are saying they don't want politics on mastodon but to a certain extent mastodon, and by extension posting and being on it, feels like an inherently political statement.

One of the things I find least attractive about masto at this point is the treatment of all things political as a verboten subject. We just bombed another country. I have friends who are scared about getting deported. I also have friends who will lose their jobs due to funding cuts. I guess I'm supposed to ignore all that? Yes, it's depressing, but I worry if communities try to pretend this stuff doesn't exist they'll just let it happen.

@XopherY yes it would but the opposite is also an echo chamber. We need to zen the *** out of social networks by making balanced connections!

Actually, you can go on a exploratory phase and follow like mad, this will help other people find more people and then you filter later... even by following a lot, you can still make sure you don't follow people who offend you.

When I look at my number of follows, I see 80, and those listed include people both on this instance and on others.

If I look at the number of follows for another person on my instance, I see their follows both on this instance and elsewhere.

If I look at the number of follows for someone who isn't on my instance, it only shows the number of people on my instance that they follow, and only people on my instance are listed, not the people they follow on their instance or any other instance.

@XopherY its actually follow me, i am xopherY@octodon.social
I think of it like a email adress :D

Funny, when I type out @XopherY [at] Octodon.social it displays as just @XopherY...

So would I say, "Follow me on Mastodon @XopherY"?

Or would it be, "Follow me on Octodon.Social (federated with Mastodon) @XopherY"?

Maybe I'm over thinking this stuff.

Finally starting to get the hang of things. Hope this stays around.

This has a bit of a summer camp feel. People in your instance are your bunkmates, and there are all these other cabins out there full of fellow campers meeting you for meals and fireside stories.

There is something which scares me on mastodon. I see more and more people installing instances while they don't have a clue about what they're doing.

Then their instance is going to be listed on the website and people will be randomly redirected toward them when someone wants to use mastodon.

But then what happen?

Hosting someone's services is not fun or anything. It's a liability and I hope you have that in mind.

Also, pick carefully your instance.

Is it just me or does the federated timeline not auto-update in Tusky?
