The future is being able to talk with energy and passion without resorting to insults and bigotry.

A big part of Masto struggles with that. And they don't want to change.

This /might/ be what we need to get wide-spread protests going again. This is a high risk phase of the anti-authoritarian fight. If the Republicans in congress stay on-side, the risk here is that protest movements will be labeled terrorists. This opens up the repression playbook in nasty ways.

It is a trend in the online world to blame people of color, trans people, women, and disabled people for pointing out how hostile your shit is to us. It's not our fault.

It's another round of large protest events, so I'm going to do something I've done on in the past. A thread on police less-lethals, how to spot them and how cops use them. This is going to include a lot of imagery of weapons, and descriptions of how they can injure or kill someone.

I miss exactly 2 things from birbsite:

1) A handful of friends who I wish would move over here already because I'm not good enough at keeping in touch with them elsewhere.

2) I used to be much better informed about Turkey when I had a twitter account (and when the Turkish govt's crackdown on speech hadn't yet had its full effect).

Obvs no-one here can really help with #1, but on #2: can anyone recommend good Turkey news sources? Domestic media is sadly worthless.
