I'm late to the #introductions, but here it goes. I'm 30, she/her, from #Germany. I work as a environmental scientist at a university, pursuing a PhD degree. I need some #python #programming skills to do that.
I'm fairly into #crafts, especially #fiberarts like #knitting and #sewing.
I enjoy #boardgames a lot, I also started playing #shadowrun about a year ago.
#games like #citiesskylines or #civilization5 have quite a few hours on my steam account.
Plus: Trying to improve my #french ;)
Boyfriend looks at me seriously: "We need to talk"
Me: "uhm... Okay?"
Boyfriend: "I want ice cream now, can I have the rest of the tiramisu one?"
Me: "oh. Uhm.......I kind of already ate that? You know, after you told me how delicious it is?
Boyfriend: " oh well, then nevermind."
I was wondering where this pin went... Found it in the depth of my handbag just now after missing it for 2 years. Off to my brothers disputation today
French Mastodon, help please! Je veux aller en train le 28 juin, mais c'est un journée de grêve. Si je peux acheter un ticket sur sncf pour cet itinéraire et ce jour, c'est-à-dire que cet train va aller?
If you have recently achieved something you wanted, or even if you have just ticked something off your to-do list, did you take a few seconds to congratulate yourself? Have you told yourself that you’ve done a good job?
If you ever feel overwhelmed by your shortcomings, remember not to focus on the negative stuff only, but also to celebrate your achievements, even when they’re small!
We all live in different places now, but we see each other somewhat regularly because somehow we managed to keep the traditional "juice party" alive that we made up when we weren't allowed to drink alcohol yet. It was lots of different juices that we mixed up into freestyle "virgin" cocktails and boardgames and that's exactly what we're still doing now when we see each other.
The two friends got together when they were 14 and they were so cute back then and they still are! Cried quite a bit during the ceremony - the groom started crying as she walked down the aisle and everyone started crying with him basically 😭
Together with a friend I made up a little mystery/puzzle game as a wedding gift for two friends back from school. It was a series of questions and insiders about the last ~17 years that we knew each other, seperated by all the places where we have been together. They had to fill out the awnsers into a crossword puzzle, then derive some numbers, do some math to get a number combination for a padlock to open a travel first aid kit (for the honeymoon and so on) with money added. They did very well!
Beeing the good german that I am, my reply was "awww. But can I please have that in writing?" :D
My Brazilian friend and colleague told me today "You know, before you I didn't really talk much with germans... You were the first sweet german I met" 😭
We seem to be alternating one awesome and one awful game of #pandemiclegacy2 now. I still enjoy it a lot, we have a fun group!
In two month, I created around 1450 cards, about half are mirror cards to learn something two ways. Around 900 of them are what #Anki considers "mature", meaning I know them quite well and remembered them in reviews.
When I first started out I almost put it away immediately because you don't have to type the solution (although Anki has this as an option too as I later found out). It was a bit unusual for me that I have to "supervise" myself. But guess what, I'm not in school, I do this for fun, it's not a test. I want to remember the words when I need them and I want to recognize the words when I hear/read them. Not typing is absolutely fine and you can work through the deck much faster.
I usually read a few pages of a book or a news article, whenever I look up a word I either make a card right away or I will mark the word (e.g. in my ebook reader) to make the card later.
I think the biggest plus is making the cards yourself and not using pre-made. It's work, but it seems to be worth it. #anki
Sooo, two month of learning #vocabulary with #Anki. I tried other Apps before and mainly used pre-made word sets. Now I'm making all of my cards myself, which helps to remember the words, gives them context etc. I usually add images or gifs and sometimes example sentences. If possible I'll make them a bit extra fun! #200daysofFrench #language
Ugh, this will not become a productive day workwise... I'll just count the hours, minutes, seconds until I can finally go to my knitting circle.
Mother in law loves it! I was a bit worried about the color because we have very different color palettes so to say and I wasn't 100% sure I caught a good hue for her. But it looks great on her and it fits her new jacket perfectly that she had trouble finding a matching scarf for ;) yay me!
