When you pin out your until you have only 3 pins left... Muscle soreness from blocking is totally a thing right? Because I have been lying on the ground, adjusting needles for half an hour now, ouch. This is the Stole of the Seas by Melanie Berg, it is for my mother in law's birthday and I'm really proud because I already finished knitting in February, booyah!

@Virelai congratulations!! I can't answer your question but Go Virelay Go!

@Virelai It's totally a thing. Looks beautiful!

@Virelai Yes, a thing, my back always aches after blocking.

@Virelai it’s definitely a very physical process for me, too.

@gannet today my boyfriend asked me if I could just put the blocking mats on top of the laundry rack that was standing right besides the mats... At least for this Stole it had the perfect length... Man I wish he would've had that idea yesterday! Pinning while standing would have been much more comfortable!

@Virelai what a grand idea! I block lace swatches for stitch patterns, mostly, so that’s easy enough to do on the ironing board, but I had two lace shawls on the bed (on different days) last month. I don’t really have a better spot, unfortunately.

@gannet yep, it's a perfect fit! Most shawls I knit are triangular though, I'm not sure if I'll be able to use his idea anytime soon! Blocking always needs so much space, ugh! But what can we do - at least it does wonders often enough in transforming our knitting :)

Mother in law loves it! I was a bit worried about the color because we have very different color palettes so to say and I wasn't 100% sure I caught a good hue for her. But it looks great on her and it fits her new jacket perfectly that she had trouble finding a matching scarf for ;) yay me!
