Is there anyway to mute individual languages yet?
@DaveHiggins @Uchujin To me this is one of the neatest potential roles Mastodon could play
@paulsheprow I like the multilingual/cultural timeline, too.
However, there are advantages to optional filtering too.
For example, a by-language filter could let an English speaker join an instance in Switzerland and focus on improving their German rather than having to untangle which toots were which first.

I agree. I think eventually it sorts itself out because you will reach the point you are only following people tooting in your language(s) or the people *they* boost & you are curious enough to find out why.
And I have already seen several examples of people who post in multiple languages, which only adds to my admiration of them. 🙂
My eye is first drawn to English in the timeline(s) & glosses over the rest.
@Uchujin Doesn't seem to be. As the general tenor of conversation leans toward not replicating the language bubbles of Twitter, most of the effort I've seen is in more efficient translation options rather than language filtering.
