I remember being a teenager and using ICQ, AIM & MSN. I met random folks on the internet and was super wary about telling them anything
I was a teenager so of course I did end up telling them way more than I should have told strangers on the internet
But nowadays, between LinkedIn & Twitter, there's an expectation that your real information *should* be available (because like what about all those good networking opportunities!? you don't want to miss them hiding behind fake screennames)
@tcql Nope. Still hiding behind a mostly anonymous online existance. It's not hard to find my real name linked to me in certain places. But I certainly don't use it anywhere, especially where it is common to do so. I don't list anything like jobs or schools or anything either. I still think it's insane that people do. No one needs know who I am or what I do online and it should stay that way.
