In my opinion, social media will be what causes the downfall of the United States. Social Media has allowed those who had radical views to find others with those views. Now they have an outlet. Now it is snowballing. There is no logical discussion anymore without somebody jumping in and hijacking the discussion.
I’d like to hear your thoughts on this.
@Tom77584 did you think about minorities that could talk together using socialmedia and groups? We could not do that otherwise...
That's not the socialmedia which brings the problem, in my opinion, that's more the moderation: why racist, homophobic, hating... posts are less removed than those containing woman tities?
@DarckCrystale I think that social media that allows for conversation is awesome, I am not a fan of hate. Yes, I know, hate is subjective but I also think most people can recognize extremes. I don’t know, may be I just don’t understand all the hate. I try to live by my motto: Be kind.
@Tom77584 Do you mean radical ideas such as social justice for people with brown skin? Clean drinking water for Flint, Michigan? Universal health care, first proposed here in the United States 60 years ago, and implemented in dozens of other countries, but of course, not here?
Or do you mean radical ideas such as white supremacy and winner-take-all economies?
@jannamark I mean the white supremacy and those ideas. I guess I’m not good at expressing my thoughts.
@Tom77584 I'm not sure I want to return to the era of thinking that I was alone and most people were perfectly happy with the white supremacists in charge.
@Tom77584 It's a double-edged sword. It's given a megaphone to both types of marginalized groups -- those who were silenced because they were hated, and those who were silenced because of their hatred.
