The time a Ferengi started quoting Marx:

QUARK: Rom, can't we talk about this?

ROM: There's only one thing I have to say to you. (reading) Workers of the world, unite. You have nothing to lose but your chains.

@Taweret

I cannot express in words just how much I adore that episode

@Skrrt_vonnegut @benaiah he did become grand nagus. A show about him going back to ferenginar and ushering in a new golden age would be interesting

@Taweret "BUT NAGUS, WITH FEEMALES ABLE TO EARN PROFIT, THAT MEANS THAT THERE WILL BE HALF AS MUCH PROFIT FOR US!"

*Rom motions for the man to be put on a stake*

@Skrrt_vonnegut That number seemed kinda low at first, but then I remembered how cowardly authoritarians really are, so a lot will end up learning to keep their big mouths shut and now the number seems kinda high. 🤷

@jizzwitch
From the last season:
QUARK: You can't even dump industrial waste anymore because it might harm the natural habitat. I'm supposed to start worrying about animals now? Look how they live, wallowing in dirt, sleeping in trees. That's not natural.
ROM: I suppose you could argue that Ferenginar's biodiversity is a precious resource that belongs to everyone.

@Taweret I always felt bad for Rom, he was there to showcase how the naive get screwed for the gain of others. In retrospect, the Ferengi were operating under unrestrained late stage capitalism...

@bikecurious he gets so woke as the series goes on and by the end he's put in charge of reforming ferengi society so he does come out on top eventually and the abuse he takes is what leads him to that. it's painful to watch him get beaten down tho

@Taweret It was quite nice to see Rom lead a revolution in Ferengi society towards the end of Deep Space 9, but I felt pretty distracted by the evil that The Federation was doing in the name of supposed good.
