Crows freak me out. They seem so sinister and menacing. I probably need a pet crow but they scare me.

@Talyaa They're extremely intelligent and know how to use tools. I don't think they'd make suitable pets. Maybe suitable friends.

@SuzanEraslan @Talyaa Crow Story Time: My yard is a good place to do murders, but I'm pretty sure the crows who hang out there have a special "The woman is home, here come the dogs! Move over the fence!" call.

@Gogogadgetpants @Talyaa They almost certainly do-- and probably 3 different calls for each thought. Crows are terrifyingly smart. I think we only exist at their mercy.

@SuzanEraslan @Talyaa It's MY car, my generic gray car that sets them off. As I'm driving up the road to my house, the lookout shouts and then whoosh all the birds jump out of my backyard. It's amazing. But also, a bummer. I want to sit on their meetings!

@Talyaa @SuzanEraslan It is pretty neat. Studies suggest they are able to hold grudges too. Hopefully this isn't that....

@Gogogadgetpants @SuzanEraslan @Talyaa you need to sneak home in a rental sometime so you can eavesdrop

@SuzanEraslan @Talyaa I'm reading Tracks by Robyn Davidson, and she talks about how she took a baby crow from its nest to keep as a pet/friend. It's a little startling, but also fascinating and quirky. Akhnaton definitely had more power than a dog or a cat in that relationship.

@SuzanEraslan @jason I imagine it would require concerted effort to make a pet out of a baby crow.

@SuzanEraslan any ideas how to make friends with a crow?
