I can't believe how many liberals I see doing back flips to praise "the character" of a man whose voting record is anathema to the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness of anyone not a cishet white Baby Boomer man just because he got brain cancer at a totally unsurprising age to get brain cancer. Cancer isn't an accomplishment and it doesn't wipe a slate clean and McCain's character isn't defined merely by his sound bytes but what he's done with his power. Fuck that guy.

Ok, so prepare for GROSS generalizations, but has anyone else had the experience of consistently meeting people who study or work in a particular field who completely defy the general perception of that field? For instance, every linguist I've ever met is reticent to the point of tongue tied in conversation; all the physicists I know are hard partiers and most are talented musicians.

I'm reading the Shades of Magic series right now to try to staunch my voracious longing for the Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell sequel, and I've gotta say, it's not even methadone level. This is like getting off opium using candy cigarettes.

Generally, I'm against over criminalizing things, but it should be illegal for my period to be a week late when it's this hot out. The additional water weight is making me feel so sluggish and heavy and sleepy and gross, but couple it with 80-90° days and I feel like I'm wearing a coat made of water balloons.

Not that actually HAVING one's period is a picnic in the sweaty summer, either, but I'm ready to just get the damn thing over with already!

I worked out yesterday for the first time in weeks and now my whole body is mad at me. I hate the beginnings of working out.

I recently discovered the television show Younger, and oh my god, Debi Mazar is the hottest creature on the planet. This episode I am watching right now has her in a leopard print bra, and I now feel GREAT about being 40 not too long from now.

Tonight, we went to the dog park with our (dog hating) dog for the first time ever because it was 11:45 at night. Of course, it wasn't lit, and she couldn't see very well because she is old, so she didn't even notice that I had dropped her leash and was encouraging her to run after me. 😕
