@Siphonay I'm 36 and I still feel this way. Sometimes I even sleep with a light on in my own bedroom.
My other favorite podcasts:
* I'm doing the same ad read-through that Leo Laporte does, yet he makes it sound compelling and I'm making it sound like I'm being waterboarded.
* Let's talk over the female hosts and then re-state everything they said.
* WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE But first let me tell you a little bit about Squarespace...
* "I'm convinced you'll like DickPicks2U. I've been using them for years and I'm glad they're now a sponsor of this show. They're totally not creepy and I <3 them
My favorite podcasts:
* The five-minute intro song they had commissioned for the show that stopped being clever about one minute into the first episode.
* "And now the latest tech news" that's three weeks old and 2 hours too long.
* "Here's a rundown of the latest packages released since our last episode"
* "I was on podcast 1 where we talked about podcast 2 in their episode about podcast 3 which lead to an interesting discussion on podcast 4 that was tangentially related to [STACK OVERFLOW]"
Same shit, different damn day. Every. Single. Day.

PSA from the City of New York and its inhabitants to everyone else: Show more
Middle America: loves to say we don't know anything about them and what they need, then tells New Yorkers what's what when they think we all live in an episode of Friends or Law and Order or whatever their media consumption depiction of New York is. Where is the Omaha Register's miles of essays on understanding what drives the "coastal elite" vote or that, maybe, the vast majority of us dismissed as coastal elite are actually a bunch of pissed off, struggling people?
Us: We have too many books
Also us: A local library is having a used book sale and we must liberate all of the good books before they are gone.
@Gogogadgetpants @Talyaa They almost certainly do-- and probably 3 different calls for each thought. Crows are terrifyingly smart. I think we only exist at their mercy.
@Talyaa They're extremely intelligent and know how to use tools. I don't think they'd make suitable pets. Maybe suitable friends.

Don't even talk to me before I've had two cups of milky, sweet tea.
Chaotic Evil Milk Hotel
I think I've come to some kind of peace with this show Will if I just pretend it's not about Shakespeare and is just a CW teen drama about some playwright guy in an alt history show set in a nebulous nowhere time where everyone wears Elizabethan inspired punk clothes. Very Vivienne Westwood, really.
@MightyBigCar Oh, I never left Mastodon. Just was using both and got caught up in the miasma of negativity on Twitter. It's so easy to keep going back for the bad shit for some reason.
@Gogogadgetpants @jason I hope I'm not too late to dispense further flirting advice, but one of the main differences is don't employ irony or sarcasm when flirting. It's very unattractive. Similarly, don't be sycophantic-- don't say you find something fascinating if you don't, just ask more questions until you do or you can find a different subject to discuss organically. Sincerity reveals interest.

Guys, I went back to the birdcage a few weeks ago, and my productivity at work plummeted. These two things probably aren't THAT related, but I think it's time to get off of it again. It's good when political moments like the healthcare vote happen, because it moves fast enough I don't feel alone, but otherwise, it's kind of a useless distraction that I constantly check to avoid the parts of my job I don't want to get to right this second.
