So, while looking at the whole mastodon discourse, I saw big parallels with what was happening not that long ago with Mojang and Minecraft

Basically, because of how buggy minecraft is, part of the community is about people abusing bugs and making "features" out of them. Sometimes there happen useful and easy-to-use "features", and they can be left into major release. At the same time, many community-reported bugs don't get fixed in time and basically get lost on the bug tracker

And one time they left such a bug in the game for 2 releases, which has lead to a big discourse for over 2/3 of a year
