Yes, there are differences, like that minecraft isn't technically open source, and "game" is even more someone's toy compared to mastodon, but despite that: within discourse there were valid concerns, which were heard by devs and devs are continuing listening to the community
What I saw on mastodon was complete dismissal of the underlying issue by main dev and him saying "it's my toy", when it's no longer his toy, there's also community that wants to be heard

Eventually, the bug was fixed, but discussion has continued, which lead to creation of a dedicated group of "technical" players who help Mojang via analysing and providing fixes to the game's code, and Mojang devs themselves are in their chat and listening to their feedback
