Yes, there are differences, like that minecraft isn't technically open source, and "game" is even more someone's toy compared to mastodon, but despite that: within discourse there were valid concerns, which were heard by devs and devs are continuing listening to the community
What I saw on mastodon was complete dismissal of the underlying issue by main dev and him saying "it's my toy", when it's no longer his toy, there's also community that wants to be heard

Basically, because of how buggy minecraft is, part of the community is about people abusing bugs and making "features" out of them. Sometimes there happen useful and easy-to-use "features", and they can be left into major release. At the same time, many community-reported bugs don't get fixed in time and basically get lost on the bug tracker
And one time they left such a bug in the game for 2 releases, which has lead to a big discourse for over 2/3 of a year
