Finally, it's stopped raining. Nice to see the sun!๐ŸŒž

Rather than set myself a figure, I'm going to see how many I can read in a year. It'll be good research to see how much of a bookworm I am. I'll likely be sticking to and , but there may be some in there, too.

I'm beginning my 2018 with something special - Patrick Rothfuss' The Wise Man's Fear. I was lucky enough to get this for Christmas, and I've been saving it until now.๐Ÿ“š

That's odd... been tooted at by something called Mastodon User Matching. "Find users similar to you at...(Link here)"

Happy New Year, all! Here's to a kinder year for everyone.๐Ÿ™‚

Twitter and Mastodon Show more

Quite possibly the one thing I dislike about this time of year is fireworks.

I understand having them on New Years Eve, but we've got a couple of days to go until then and someone's letting them off outside right now.

I'd like to be charitable and think that it's someone's birthday, but I really don't like fireworks...

Talk about nostalgia - Labyrinth is on tv.

That brings back some memories.๐Ÿ™‚

I keep losing track of what day it is. The only problem with an extended holiday over the festive season is that all the days seem to blend together into a blur of snacking and watching cheesy tv.
Anyway, afternoon all, on this grey and dreary Friday (I think).๐Ÿ˜‰

Ah, I just realised! I think that a famous scene should pop up in the book I'm reading right now.

I'm teetotal, but this is such a memorable little scene, and Yang is such a sweetheart.๐Ÿ™‚

Just got back in from battling around a supermarket. I can't tell if everyone's either dozy from Christmas excesses or just not very good in cold weather.

*sigh*

Anyway, afternoon all.๐Ÿ™‚

My family know me so well. Among other things, they got me a big tub of Parma Violets for Christmas - my favourite sweets/candy. Little, (very) old fashioned candy discs that taste of violets. Not very fashionable these days, but I love them.๐Ÿ’œ

Before I see if I can complete some sort of reading challenge, I'm getting into a book between now and the new year. Mostly because I couldn't wait.๐Ÿ™‚

So I'm switching genres from my usual to and reading Yoshiki Tanaka's Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu novelisation, book 4. (Legend of the Galactic Heroes, but it sounds better in Japanese.) Ever since seeing the anime years ago on YouTube, I've been wanting to read this epic series.๐Ÿ“š

Well, it's been a nice day, somewhat slow and easy. I've had a lovely dinner and I've finally got a book on the go again.

I'm now sitting down and watching the Great British Bake Off Xmas special. This is a really nice change of pace after the last few weeks.๐Ÿ™‚

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Whether you're celebrating today or not, I hope that the day treats you well and that today is either as peaceful or as joyful as you wish.๐Ÿค—

What a week! I'm pretty sure this has been the busiest in quite a while.

Still, I can have a break now. I've still got family coming over during the next week but for the most part, it should be a bit more peaceful.๐Ÿ™‚

Christmas ramblings #3 Show more

Today has been busier than I thought. I keep making these plans to toot more and life has other ideas.

Oh well.๐Ÿ™‚

Morning Mastodon! It's a quick hi and bye from me (as I briefly check in this morning), but I'll be back later on.๐Ÿ™‚

That being said, I can't think of a better way to spend a quiet few hours than watching reruns of Time Team on tv. I loved that show.๐Ÿ’œ
