I wasn't expecting to get this close to a bee yesterday, but he was certainly making the most of the still-flowering hollyhock in Dad's garden.🐝

One more quick post, and then I'm away until later. I very nearly had a late start to everything this morning, but it was worth it.
Last year, I grew some teasels from seed. Imagine my delight this morning to find there were goldfinches sitting on the seedheads, happily munching away. It was a lovely sight, but they were too skittish to get close and take a picture. I almost lost track of time, watching them.🙂

That said, here's my #Inktober entry for the day, using the #Artober theme of Space. Since I'm not good at drawing science fiction things, I tried thinking about other uses of the word. The most appropriate fit (for me) was the feeling of wrongness when you see an empty space in a row on a bookshelf, and you wonder where the missing book is... Have you loaned it to someone? The theme was Ancient, and I hope my sketch of one of the most ancient forms of writing/drawing comes across as okay. A little bit of brightness on a Friday night. These are old #photos, but I haven't been able to find this particular type of poppy in garden centres anywhere since then. The combination of colours is pretty spectacular.

I've not been able to get much creative stuff done today, but I was able to get a #photo of the rose Mum and Dad planted for me a few years back. It's always heartening to see it in full bloom.🌹
