A little bit of brightness on a Friday night. These are old #photos, but I haven't been able to find this particular type of poppy in garden centres anywhere since then. The combination of colours is pretty spectacular.

@Fritillaria2 In my Dad's garden, and he grew them from seed so that should narrow it down. I just have to rack my brains a bit for the name.π€ It'd be nice if I could grow them for myself.βΊ
@Fritillaria2 Wow - the power of memory is a scary thing! The name just popped into my head, and one google image search later and there we are. Those are Danish Poppies, and I can get seeds for them, too.
It's a bit late in the year to sow some now, but next year I'll definitely try and get some.π
@Starling I don't know where you live, but here we get the best germination planting them in the fall.
@Fritillaria2 I'm in the UK. I'm not much of a gardener, though, so it may be that it's better to sow them in autumn.
I probably need to brush up on my gardening skills.βΊ
@Starling I live in a climate very similar to the UK, so you'd be safe sowing them now. (You only need to mark where you put them!)
@Fritillaria2 Noted. I'll have to give it a try, once I've tracked down some of the seeds. Thanks for the tips! π
@Starling It could be a natural hybrid, but it's almost too beautiful to consider that. Anyhow, if it is a named variety, you might do well to look in seed catalogs. Or, I guess it's seed websites these days (how very not fun). Was this near to where you are currently?
