Tomorrow, or later today depending on how you look at it, I *must* finish the appellate brief.
I can't get the 2nd part of the issue 2 argument right. I finally just threw stuff on the page.
I will sleep, and then I will review the statement of facts. One final editing pass before compiling the table of authorities.
Tuesday is for printing, binding, and filing. Whew!
I edited the first half of my argument - with a few niggling things I don't have the mental capacity to figure out right now. Statement of issues edited. Request for Oral Argument finished. First on the list tomorrow is working the second half of my argument.
I still have to finish this confounded brief. Apparently, "because you're forcing me" is not an acceptable reason for my Request for Oral Argument. I still have to turn my Public Safety Exception outline into an argument for why it doesn't apply in my client's case. And then there's the Statement of Facts.
I have 1 week left in this class, and I will be relieved when it is over.
Is it fortuitous timing that we have reached defamation in my Torts class?
This appellate brief is a beast. 45% of my grade. I'm piecing it together, but dammit! I've got other classes to read for.
G'night, y'all.
And once again I napped for too long
I don't know that I ever introduced myself when I plopped into this space. So, here goes.
Hi! I'm an avid reader of fiction, prefering fantasy, mysteries, or anything that transports me. I work full-time, attend law school part-time, & take care of my mom & old dog. My political leanings are solidly middle-of-the-road. I know when to use "bless your heart" and "how nice." I'm also non-judgy & have a great poker face.
Welcome to those newer than me! This is a great place.
I work really hard to avoid the passive voice in my writing for school. And on every paper I've turned in so far? "Avoid passive voice!" Something *always* slips through.
Grrrrrrrr!
I survived my 1st law school appellate oral argument. I didn't know it as well as I should have, or as well as I will for the final, but I did it. Moot Court competition? Maybe.
Now, back to writing the rest of the brief.
I hope these 4 hours of sleep are fabulous!
This semester is a beast! "Go to law school!" they said. "It'll be great!" they said.
Does anyone use an OTA DVR? If so, which? And why that one?
I currently use a Channel Master DVR+. It's connected to one television. I initially chose it for the ease of use and cost. My mother is not very tech savvy. No issues for the past 2 yrs. The drawback is that recordings can only be watched on the TV to which is connected, which is the reason I'm considering changing.
I've considered the Channel Master Stream+, which is Android based. But we have already invested in Roku.
Anyone?
My nap went longer than I intended. Okay. I'm up now. Time to eat and then work on the outline and oral argument.
A tortious interference with contractual relations case from the 1853 Queen's Bench. @DaveHiggins What was that you said about my country only having a few centuries of law? We're studying your country's law as well!
The majority of people in my life do not understand just how consuming law school is. I can't do much at the last minute. I can't just stop what I'm doing. If it's due Tuesday, I can't wait until Tuesday to work on it. I can't speed read or skim.
Last night was not fun. Torts prof chewed us out. We aren't working hard enough. We aren't studying enough. We aren't reading the cases deeply enough. We aren't reviewing enough.
"I know you're tired, but..." and "It's only going to get more difficult from here on out."
I knew part-time law school while working full-time would be difficult. Dut damn! There's nothing like a demoralizing speech at the end of a tough week.
Naked owner and usufructuary!
I'm enjoying this section of property law. Besides, usufruct is a fun word to say ๐
I finally read the "About this instance" on the side of my screen. I love that I chose the right place without realizing that I chose the right place ๐
Happy Friday, y'all!
Coffee and rain on the roof.
