I'm a white cis male and never got in trouble in my life because of it because I was born in a privileged group of people. I NEVER faced discrimination before being out as homosexual.

Connect with others who have been in this situation longer - it helped me a lot when I was younger. Community can help if you find the right place for yourself. And while being careful also helps, don't ever let these idiots get you down!
