I WOULD have voted for Hillary against Donald. She was a liberal, still, but also a progressist.

Emmanuel Macron is NOT a progressist. He WILL make regresses on worker's rights. He has NO plans to diminish discrimination of minorities and give rights to trans folk. I do NOT want him as a president, as much as I do NOT want Le Pen either.
I am not gonna vote.

@Siphonay Not voting may just end up meaning that Le Pen really wins though.

As you saw in the american election too.

Hmm.... It's tough. Is it only presedential elections now? If there's local too, maybe just focus on voting in those?

@maloki But they're both as bad, really.

There are legislatives elections where we elect our députés (MPs). This is the one election I'm gonna vote on.

@Siphonay I don't know the details of French politics, but I urge you to reconsider. Le Pen winning would encourage fascists everywhere just like Trump's victory did. Her losing would lower their motivation just like Wilders not winning in the Netherlands did. The elections in large states like France affect large parts of the world, not just the people directly inside the state!

@Siphonay as an American: there is a huge difference between George Bush and Donald Trump. both are awful, bad for women, bad for GLBT people, bad for everyone.

but if there were a runoff between them, I'd vote for bush with out hesitation. the 'lesser evil' is less evil! don't let an actual fascist get in office!

@Siphonay I think you are being way to kind to Hillary. She would have also negatively impacted workers rights just like every so called progressive since the New Deal (which arguably was a half measure that destroyed the strength of Unions without satisfactory long term reform). That being said I get where you're coming from, only that the UN must be maintained if the rest of the current climate it maintained and Muslim and immigrant workers deserve the same consideration as all workers

@Siphonay What about a blank vote? It doesn't actually count but if enough people vote blank there is no way it won't be taken into account.
I'm ok with not voting though, after all, you do you. Abstention has the same worth, to me.

@Siphonay Pareil pour moi, vraiment déçu que Melanchon n'est pas eu plus de voix 😢

Damn I thought that Mastodon was a peaceful heaven without politics talk >_< Show more

Notez qu'en anglais, « liberal » est à peu près synonyme de « progressiste ».
Un anglophone ne vous comprendra pas.
Belle soirée à vous cependant.

@Julius Merci de la correction, mais comment se traduirait libéral alors ?

@Siphonay

Americans say 'neoliberal'. British people know what liberal means.

@Siphonay
