Even if everyone already stopped using escargot MSN I put WLM besides my other IM things because it's just too great to not be on my desktop
@Siphonay MSN Messenger was the predominant IM platform in much of the world in the 1990s, because AOL wasn't really a thing. When I was a teenager, anyone who knew about IM would be on MSN. Also, most of us had Hotmail accounts, because Gmail didn't exist, and Altavista was the Google Search of the day. You just knew that Altavista had the best search results.
@thor ah well it was the same for me about MSN in the mid to late 2000s.
I used msn search instead of Google for a while because I just didn't know better
@Siphonay I don't remember who told me about Google, but by the time I heard of it, I was getting very frustrated with Altavista, whose search results quality had declined considerably. I think that must've been around the time people started doing SEO to bring their crappy websites further up in the search results, effectively polluting them. PageRank made that a lot harder to do.
