Wow. Apparently I pissed off my first Mastodon user to the point they deleted their post. They were complaining about tools using PNG instead of JPeG. All I did was a lot of software does that as JPeG was patent encumbered, and PNG was designed to not to be.
Sorry person I apparently angered! Wasn't meant to be like that. Little did I know that graphics file formats was the subject that dare not speak its name.
I'd love to find a Mastodon instance that is purely rated G. Anyone? I want a safe place for my son to type out his fun facts. He can give fun facts for hours on end about history and science. It gives me headaches for a couple hours of that so I figured this would be a good place for him to release his knowledge.

Yeah! :metal: From a blank DigitalOcean VM to a functioning Mastodon server in 51 minutes, including retries and resizing the instance to 1GB RAM.
Two tweaks to make to the install process, so I'm gonna tear it down and start all over again, then document that. Progress! :tada:

my mastodon's routine:
1) open the notication tab
2) reply to all new mentions, sometimes only boost/fav those when i couldn't think of any reply
3) open the local timeline
4) welcome new users, react to people's toots (reply, boost, fav)
5) open the federation timeline
6) do number 4
7) do everything all over again from number 1-6
8) (optional) toot something that comes accross my mind
A list of muted users would be handy. At this point I don't have a reason to block; I'm sure in the future I will ... but I've already muted ten or so accounts.

Its kinda cool, I like to think of each Mastodon instance as a country and we're all interconnected one way or another. The feeling of community here is strong! #Mastodon :desktop:
