King Midas, from our universe, who didn't think it through, and died. Queen Midas, from their universe, who realized her mistake immediately, and set about solving the problem.

Faraday mitts that let her handle objects. Hyper-amorphous meals that resisted transfiguration. Gold-threaded fabrics that fooled her powers enough to stay comfortable.

Her life was difficult, but her treasury always had funds, and her subjects were always happy.

The soil she was buried in still shines.

@wakest Thanks, I am new here (obviously) and the ability to customize everything is still pretty surprising to me.

one of the nice things about not being able to search toots directly:

never have to know how many different people have made a "who called it self-boosting and not mastobation" joke

Do fraudulent kickstarters for vaporware and like-fated gadgets qualify as science fiction?

It's remarkable the degree to which the Popular  Mechanics piece on #Mastodon misses the point.

Brand confusion/name squatting can be serious problems--IF you're using the platform as a serious marketing tool.

Most of us are here precisely because we were sick of being on a platform that was a serious marketing tool. So maybe the lack of professional tools to promote and protect your brand are mostly a feature (and I say that as an IP lawyer who kinda takes brands seriously).

webcartoon idea I'm surprised we never saw:

THE ADVENTURES OF EVIL OTTO AND SINISTAR

can we all agree that its good that mashable is writing articles about how bad mastodon is? cause maybe it will scare away anyone who reads mashable from ever signing up and polluting the fediverse with their drivel

is it true that mastodon is actually a psyop created by hover and namecheap to spur people into paying crazy prices for hip domain names such as "balls.hypno.gongle.sigil", "godzone.fuck" and "will.i.am.shitner"

also figure it's time to make an #introduction post

I'm Bee, and I made the move to mastodon because I'm a fan of having a platform that's not controlled by a single corporation. Chose Icosahedron for the name, but have really enjoyed the people here so far.

#interests include #beekeeping (a-anyone else?), #robots, #baseball, and #nature in general.

I play #hearthstone (not very well, though) and some other games, depending on the day.

Still trying to figure out what I'm doing with my life.

Rule of Mastodition #22: Everyone on Mastodon is cool.

I used to be into politics but mostly now I'm into coping mechanisms for political news

Courier-Post just isn't sure what message it wants to send here. We might all die, but also there's live music at a winery! mastodon.social/media/SrW0ks5G

Basically what I'm saying is it's nobody's responsibility or duty to reach across the aisle and you can block any instance you want.

but I would appreciate not being made to be afraid to talk to people on some of those instances. Block them but please don't block anyone who talks to them. You can ignore me but I'd just appreciate the good faith for those of us who do want to reach across the aisle

Today has been one hell of a day! I have been working on both devops and code optimization non-stop, as well as answering questions and e-mails. A lot of ms have been shaved off of requests and background jobs. Instance admins should probably update to the latest master. I'll be looking into adopting a more stable release system than just the master branch.

Oh also, I did read that "Mastodon will go extinct" article. The author doesn't get it, and didn't reach out to me at all.

For #ff #followfriday, follow everyone who boosts this
but don't follow me
that'd be a toot daft
