@sungo @Samizdata Given that people at google formerly had a choice of OS and many people chose to use IE6 and Windows XP that should give you an idea of why coders should never be trusted with sysadmin jobs unless they can demonstrate competence.

@sungo Datacentres? These people use EC2. I mean, never mind it's probably costing them more than a cab...

@sungo I almost wound up having to deploy OpenStack once. Literally trying to shoehorn it into an existing VPS company. I quit eventually because the manager had no idea what he was doing and kept changing his mind. Didn't help he was originally hired for tickets and shoehorned himself as a manager due to the owner's incompetence.
That's a rant for another day.
