How would authorities track down a malicious user? would they need access to the instance they're posting from? what if they post from multiple instances at the same time? what if they are the instance owners and just delete it before getting in trouble?
@Rineroth If they post from multiple instances at the same time, you only need to track them on one of the instances.
@Rineroth I'm sure they will have shadow accounts capturing data from each and serve good ol' subpoenas when needed. Most instances US based?
@Rineroth @oneoffsuit According to @CobaltVelvet octodon.social is hosted in France, so it would depend on if the hosting country responds to other countries requests for data.
@Rineroth in this case it's no different than any website on the internet, it's nothing new.
